Mother Charged with Murder of Her Three-Year-Old Daughter

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Cassandra Kay Michalski, 24, (DOB: 06/05/1993), in connection with the death of her three-year-old daughter Skylar Michalski. On November 10, 2017, at 8:10 p.m., the victim was transported by her mother from their home in the 34400 block of John Street in Wayne to the Annapolis Hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, medical personal pronounced the child dead. On the same day, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Wayne police officer was dispatched to the hospital to investigate the death of the child. The victim was observed to have injuries on her head, neck and back. On February 2, 2018 the medical examiner determined that the victim's manner of death was homicide, and the cause of death was abusive head trauma

Defendant Michalski has been charged with Felony Murder and Child Abuse First Degree*. Over the weekend, the defendant was arrested. She was arraigned on the charges this morning before 29th District Court Judge Laura Mack. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 6, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mack. The defendant received a $100,000 cash/surety bond. If she meets bond, she would be released with conditions: No return her home on John Street, no contact with children and must wear a GPS tether.

Detroit Man Charged in West Eight Mile Road Homicide

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Edjuan Darico-Donald Jackson, 27 (DOB: 09/13/1990), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Xavier Dawn Pratcher, age 61, of Southfield, MI.

On February 18, 2018 at approximately 2:40 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to West Eight Mile Road and Rosemont Street in Detroit. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim lying in the eastbound lanes of West Eight Mile Road with an apparent head injury. Medics arrived and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office. It is alleged that on February 18, 2018 at 1:30 a.m. that Jackson struck and kicked the victim while he was crossing West Eight Mile Road. The victim lost consciousness in the roadway and was subsequently struck by a vehicle. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the identification of defendant.

Jackson has been charged with Murder - Second Degree*. He was arraigned out-county by District Court Magistrate Elizabeth Disanto. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for March 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge William McConico in 36th District Court.

Detroit Man Charged in Winthrop Street Homicide

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rudolph Lawton Henderson, 43, (DOB: 10/26/1974), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Annetta Nelson, age 57.

On February 26, 2018, at 4:25 p.m. Detroit police officers on patrol in the area of Plymouth Avenue and Winthrop it is alleged that the defendant flagged the officers down. While with the defendant, one of the officers observed the victim, Annetta Nelson, lying on the sidewalk unconscious and not breathing. Medics were dispatched to the location and when they arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation by the police led to the arrest of Henderson. The facts and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Henderson has been charged with First Degree Murder*. The Detroit Police Department has informed WCPO that Henderson is expected to be arraigned today at 4:00 p.m. in 36th District Court. Please contact the Detroit Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.

Detroit Man Charged in Detroit Opera House Parking Garage Assault

On March 1, 2018 Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Darius Deontae Jackson, 25, (DOB: 05/19/1992), of Detroit, in connection with the robbery and assault of a 61-year-old female that occurred in the Detroit Opera House parking garage.

On February 26, 2018 at approximately 11:15 p.m., the victim was approaching her car in the Detroit Opera House parking garage in the 1400 block of Broadway Street in Detroit. As she got to her vehicle, it is alleged that Defendant Jackson, while armed with a gun, demanded money and took her personal property. It is further alleged the defendant ordered her into the back seat of her vehicle where she was beaten and sexually assaulted. The victim was able to escape and located a Detroit Opera House security officer who called 911. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. The defendant later turned himself in to a Detroit police officer.

Jackson has been charged with Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct - Penetration, Criminal Sexual Conduct - Second Degree, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm*. Jackson was arraigned and remanded to jail yesterday in 36th District Court. His probable cause conference is on March 8, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination is on March 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. A photograph of the defendant is attached.

Two Detroit Police Officers Charged with Willful Neglect of Duty

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Detroit police officers Stephen Heid, 26, (DOB: 04/23/1991) and Ronald Cadez, 28, (DOB: 12/10/1989), in connection with a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Maiden Street near Park Drive in Detroit. On October 9, 2017, at approximately 10:18 p.m., Detroit Police Officers Heid and Cadez observed a vehicle traveling at an increased rate of speed on Maiden Street and Park Drive in Detroit. It is alleged that the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, activated their overhead lights, and pursued the vehicle. The car was driving at a high rate of speed and when the car was a block and a half away from the police, it crossed an intersection and collided with another vehicle. Heid and Cadez left the immediate scene and it is alleged they failed to notify the dispatcher that they were engaged in a pursuit. It is further alleged that the defendants neglected their duty when they failed to respond at the scene of an accident. The driver of the car was identified as Jerry Bradford, Jr., 19, of Detroit. Bradford was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead from injuries he sustained in the crash.

Both defendants have been charged with Willful Neglect of Duty*. They are expected to be arraigned on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. 36th District Court.*The charges are allegations unless and until the defendant is convicted.
