Alabama Man Charged in Sexual Assaults of Detroit Family Members

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Germain Moore, 44, (DOB: 04/01/1973), of Detroit, with multiple charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct - First Degree and sexually abusive activity involving three second-degree relatives, current ages of nine years, ten years and 12 years old, all of Detroit.

From 2011 until 2017, the children were in the care and custody of the defendant, their paternal uncle, while their mother worked. It is alleged the defendant sexually assaulted the children at his mother's home in Detroit and at his home in Alabama.

Moore has been charged with four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct - First Degree, two counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, one count of Computers - Using to Commit a Crime and one count of Children - Distributing Sexually Explicit, Visual or Verbal Matter*.

Moore is expected to be extradited from Alabama. Updated information will be sent out when arraignment information is available.

Judge Skutt was an honorable man that we will truly miss. He was a kind, thoughtful, and engaging man. He was well liked by all at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice. We at the Prosecutors Office will miss his cool and even judicial temperament and his fair treatment of all who came before him.

Sterling Heights Man Charged in Taylor Homicide

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Vernest James Griffin, 45, (DOB: 12/09/1972), of Sterling Heights, in connection with the fatal shooting of Keith Allen Kitchen, 60, of Garden City, MI.

On February 1, 2018, at approximately 10:33 a.m., Taylor police were dispatched to a business located in the 24000 block of Pennsylvania in Taylor, MI. It is alleged that Griffin entered the business and fired several shots at the victim, killing him. It is further alleged the defendant carjacked a semi-truck and left the scene. It is also alleged the defendant drove to Pontiac where another fatal shooting occurred. The defendant is currently in the custody of Oakland County authorities.

Griffin has been charged with Murder - First Degree, Carjacking, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm*. He was arraigned in the hospital and was remanded. The probable cause conference is scheduled for February 21, 2018 in 23rd District Court in Taylor. There is no preliminary examination date at this time.
