Southgate Teen Charged in False Report of a Traffic Stop

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Faith Kathleen Gentry, 17 (DOB: 06/22/2001) of Southgate, in connection with filing a false police report.

On February 28, 2019 at approximately 9:00 p.m., Gentry went to the Southgate Police Department lobby. It is alleged that she gave a report about being pulled over by a police officer in the area of Fort Street, near Eureka Road, in Wyandotte. Investigation by the Wyandotte and Southgate Police Departments found no evidence to substantiate the defendant's claims.

Gentry has been charged with False Report of a Misdemeanor.* She was arraigned this afternoon before Judge James Kandrevas in 28th District Court in Southgate. A Pre-Trial is scheduled for March 8, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kandrevas. Gentry received a $25,000 personal bond.

Desmond Robinson - Defendant charged in connection with the August 14, 2018 fatal hit-and-run car crash that killed Wayne County Sheriff Department Sgt. Lee Smith who was off-duty and jogging on Hines Drive near Middlebelt Road in Westland. Today he was sentenced before Judge Qiana Lillard to four and a half years to 15 years MDOC.

Detroit Man Charged in Dearborn Fatal Shooting

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Allen Michael Sherrill, 27, (DOB: 09/25/1991), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Junika Hardy, 28, of Livonia, MI.

On March 1, 2019, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Dearborn police officers responded to a 911 dispatch regarding a fatal shooting at a location in the 17600 block of Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Upon arrival, officers found Defendant Sherrill standing outside of the vehicle and observed the victim's lifeless body, on the ground near the driver's door of the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is alleged that, while riding as a passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle, Sherrill fatally shot the victim. Further information will be made available at the preliminary examination.

Sherrill has been charged with First Degree Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 19th District Court in Dearborn, MI. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. before 19th District Court Judge Salamey.

Ollante Young - Defendant charged in the connection with the August 2018 fatal go kart crash that killed his four-year-old daughter in the 19000 block of St. Mary Street in Detroit. Today he was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections by Judge Prentis Edwards.

Sixteen-Year-Old Juvenile Charged in Dearborn Heights Homicide

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Daylon Jamar Wooten, 16 (DOB: 06/26/2002), of Dearborn Heights, in connection with the homicide of James Newman, 17, of Inkster. Wooten has been charged has been adult designated. This means that if Wooten is convicted, at sentence hearing, the judge can determine whether he will be sentenced as a juvenile, as an adult, or if the sentence will be a combined juvenile and adult sentence.

On February 26, 2019 at 1:30 a.m., Wooten and Newman were in the 24700 block of Lehigh in Dearborn Heights when they got into a dispute. Both men were armed with hand guns. It is alleged that Wooten fatally shot Newman. Newman was taken to a local hospital by two men at the scene and was later pronounced dead. Aspects of the case remain under investigation and no further details will be given at this time.

Wooten has been charged with Second Degree Murder, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.* He had his Preliminary Hearing yesterday and was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Facility. The Preliminary Examination will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Edward Joseph in the Lincoln Hall of Justice.

Alleged Altercation Involving a Pittsburgh Official - The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has received a warrant request in connection with an alleged altercation that occurred on March 6, 2019 at 12:17 a.m. at the Weston Book Cadillac Hotel involving a Pittsburgh official. The matter is currently being reviewed. No further information will be released until a charging decision is made. The decision is not expected today.

Detroit Man Charged in I-94 Road Rage Incident

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Demetrius Deshawn Butler, 28, (DOB: 04/18/1990) of Detroit, in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on March 7, 2019 at approximately 4:00 p.m. on westbound I-94near Merriman Road in Romulus, MI.

The victims, a 49-year-old Detroit man and a 25-year-old Royal Oak woman, with their eight-month-old infant, were traveling westbound on I-94 near Detroit Metropolitan Airport. It is alleged that the defendant, Butler, who had two passengers in the vehicle, was driving erratically and menacing the family as they were driving. It is also alleged that while driving, Butler pulled a weapon and pointed it at the victims' car. Immediately after this incident, the victims located a Michigan State Police trooper in an I-94 median turn and requested assistance. Michigan State Police and local law enforcement officers located the defendant on I-94 near, near Michigan Avenue, conducted a traffic stop and placed the defendant under arrest.

Butler has been charged with: Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, two counts of Felonious Assault, four counts of Felony Firearm, Reckless Driving and Driving While License Suspended.*

Butler was arraigned at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon before 34th District Court Magistrate Alan Hindman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 20, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Lisa Martin. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 27, 2019 at 9:05 a.m. before Judge David Parrott in 34th District Court. The defendant received a $100,000 cash/surety bond. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the police.
