Detroit Man Charged in Sexual Assault of 25-Year-Old Woman

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Alfred Hatchett, 51 (DOB: 05/21/1967), of Detroit, in connection with the sexual assault of a 25-year-old Detroit woman. On April 30, 2019 at 11:40 p.m. at a liquor store in the 17200 block of West McNichols, it is alleged the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a car that was running as she waited for her sister who was in the liquor store. It is alleged that the defendant entered the driver's side door of the car, pointed a gun at the victim, and drove away with her. It is alleged that the defendant took the car and parked it in the 17170 block of Bentler and sexually assaulted the woman. After the assault, the man fled on foot and the victim drove the car to her home and reported the assault to the police. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

The Detroit Police Department asked for assistance from the public to locate the perpetrator and as a result, the defendant was taken into custody by the police on May 1, 2019.

The defendant has been charged with the following offenses: two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree; one count of Kidnapping; one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree; one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm; and five counts of Felony Firearm.*

Hatchett was arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on Saturday, May 4, 2019 before Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 14, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 21, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court. Albert Weathers - Defendant charged in connection with the December 7, 2018 fatal shooting of a transgender woman on East McNichols and Brush Street in Detroit. The defense has requested a bond hearing that will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Thomas Hathaway.

Melvindale Police Sergeant Charged
with Assault and Willful Neglect of Duty

On May 3, 2019 Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Matthew Lawrence Furman, 34, (DOB: 04/18/1985), of Allen Park, in connection with an encounter with an intoxicated adult male, 42, of Melvindale, Michigan.

On February 1, 2019 at approximately 9:44 p.m., Defendant Melvindale Police Sergeant Matthew Furman, along with another Melvindale police officer, were dispatched to a residence in the 17300 block of Clarran Avenue in Melvindale, to respond to a call of a drunk and disorderly person. Upon arrival, Furman found the intoxicated victim. It is alleged that Furman while attempting to escort the victim down stairs into the basement to recover, had contact with the victim causing him to fall. It is further alleged that Furman willfully neglected his duty while handling the intoxicated victim. EMS was called and the victim was transported to a local hospital.

Furman has been charged with Assault and Battery, a 93 day misdemeanor, and Willful Neglect of Duty, a misdemeanor with a one year penalty.* Furman was arraigned on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was given a personal bond in 28th District Court in Southgate. Furman entered a no contest plea to Willful Neglect of Duty, with one year of probation with the condition that he attend anger management classes, with restitution, fines, and costs to be determined by the court. The Assault and Battery charge will be dismissed at the sentence hearing. The sentencing will held on July 12, 2019 in 28th District Court.

Detroit Man Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting near Grand Circus Park

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Richard Lee-Jose Allen, 34 (DOB: 11/30/1984), of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting and vehicular assault of Jalen Dontez Davis, 20, of Grosse Pointe, MI.

On May 6, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Detroit Police officers were standing in front of a nightclub located near Woodward Avenue and West Adams. A gunshot was heard nearby and when officers went to investigate, a vehicle driven at a high rate of speed, hit a parked car on West Adams. As the police officers observed this crash, it is alleged the defendant exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, but was apprehended by the police officers. While the officers detained Defendant Allen, the victim approached the offices with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS was dispatched to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injury. It is alleged that the defendant shot the victim from his vehicle and struck him with his car before crashing into a parked car.

On May 7, 2019 Allen was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm Second Degree. He was arraigned on the same day and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond. His Probable Cause Hearing before Judge Ronald Giles is scheduled for May 17, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. The investigation continued until today and Allen has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.* He is expected to be arraigned on the new charges at his Probable Cause Hearing in 36th District Court. Seventeen-Year-Old Charged in Fatal Car Crash

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Micaiah Carlin Minor, 17 (DOB: 10/30/2001) in connection with a fatal car crash that killed John Robert McElreath, 64, that occurred in Van Buren Township. The city of residence for the defendant and the victim were not contained on official paperwork.

On May 7, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Van Buren Township Public Safety officers were dispatched to the area of Belleville Road and Ecorse Road in response to a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the victim in his vehicle, which had sustained significant damage, and had come to rest in an open grass field. EMS responded to the crash site and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Defendant Minor was found in a damaged vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

It is alleged that Minor, an unlicensed driver, was driving southbound on Belleville Road at a high rate of speed, when he disregarded a red light crossed over the double yellow line and into northbound traffic, striking the victim in his car.

Minor has been charged with Murder - Second Degree.* He is expected to be arraigned on Saturday, May 11, 2019 after 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court. Please request a photograph of the defendant after the arraignment.
