Duane and Dwight Samuels - Sixty-one-year-old identical Detroit twins convicted in connection with the June 21, 2019, assault of a Coney Island worker after they were told the restaurant did not serve fried mushrooms. Today Dwight Samuels was sentenced to 13 to 30 years on one count of Assault with Intent to Murder and five years on one count of Felony Firearm- Second Offense. Duane Samuels was sentenced to 11 to 30 years on one count of Assault with Intent to Murder and two years on one count of Felony Firearm.

Pittsburgh Controller Chelsa Wagner's Jury Verdict -
Mistrial on Felony and Not Guilty on Misdemeanor

Ms. Wagner was charged with two counts of Resisting and Obstructing the Police, a felony carrying a maximum penalty of two years, and one count of Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 90 days. * Her jury trial began on November 12, 2019 before Judge Dalton Roberson and concluded today. Ms. Wagner was found not guilty of the misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. A mistrial was declared on the felony count of Resisting and Obstructing the Police and the pre-trial conference for this count is scheduled for December 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, "Reasonable minds can disagree, but we accept the verdict of the jury regarding their not guilty verdict on the misdemeanor count of Disorderly Conduct. I will not comment further at this time because the felony charge of Resisting and Obstructing the Police is pending. We will be in court for the pretrial conference on December 20th."

Kabria Arnold Homicide - WCPO has received a warrant request from the Detroit Police Department for a female suspect in connection with the November 10, 2019 homicide of 20-year-old Kabria Arnold. It is currently being reviewed. When a charging decision has been made updated information will be released.

Hamtramck Man has Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges
Dismissed at Preliminary Examination

On September 21, 2019, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Ibrahim Aljahim, 37 (DOB: 02/10/1982) of Hamtramck, in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a teen aged male.

On September 18, 2019 at 8:55 a.m., Hamtramck police officers went to the Oakland International Academy, located on Florian and Lathem in Hamtramck. While there, the officers investigated an allegation against Aljahim, who is employed as a student liaison with the school. It is alleged that on September 18, 2019, Aljahim had inappropriate sexual contact with an 18-year-old male student on school property during school hours.

Aljahim was charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, under multiple variables for a mentally disabled victim and that the defendant was in a position of authority over the victim.* Today at the conclusion of his preliminary examination, Judge Alexis G. Krot of the 31st District Court dismissed all charges against Aljahim.

Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller said," The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will evaluate the preliminary examination transcript to determine whether an appeal will be filed in this case."

Note: WCPO has not received a warrant request regarding the Detroit officer that was fatally shot or his partner that was wounded in the leg. An update will be sent out when it is received.

"This is a stark reminder of what police officers in Detroit, Wayne County, and across this country face every minute of every day. They sign up to do this. They run into danger to protect us. We must never forget this and should not need a horrible tragedy to remind us," said Prosecutor Worthy.

Southfield Woman Charged in Homicide of Kabria Arnold

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gabrielle Marie Brantley, 24 (DOB: 04/30/1995) of Southfield, in connection with the homicide of Kabria Arnold, 20, of Detroit. On November 10, 2019 at 11:40 p.m., Detroit police officers located Ms. Arnold at Pilgrim Street and Bentler Street lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced her deceased at the scene.

Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Brantley on November 18, 2019. It is alleged that she shot and killed Ms. Arnold while she was pregnant. The matter remains under investigation. The facts and evidence in the in the case will be placed on the record at the preliminary examination.

Gabrielle Brantley has been charged with one count each of First Degree Premeditated Murder, Assault on a Pregnant Woman- Intentionally Causing Miscarriage/Stillbirth (15 year maximum penalty), and two counts of Felony Firearm.*

Brantley was arraigned after 2:00 p.m. today before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 5, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 12, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court. 28-Year-Old Detroit Male Suspect in the Shooting of Police Officer Rasheen McClain - The WCPO has not received a warrant request related to the fatal shooting of Officer Rasheen McClain. We have been informed by DPD that it may not be presented until next week.

This afternoon, DPD presented a different homicide warrant request involving the same 28-year-old Detroit male suspect in connection with a fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man, and the non-fatal shooting of another man that occurred on November 18, 2019 at 2:10 p.m. on Knodell Street in Detroit. The warrant request is currently being reviewed and a charging decision is not expected today.

28-Year-Old Detroit Male Suspect in the Shooting of Police Officer Rasheen McClain - Today the WCPO received a warrant request for the fatal shooting of Officer Rasheen McClain. The warrant is being reviewed, and a charging decision is not expected for several days.

A second warrant request for the same suspect for a November 18, 2019 fatal shooting of a man and a non-fatal shooting on Knodell Street in Detroit has been returned to DPD for further investigation.
