Virgil Smith, Jr. - On May 12, 2015 Virgil Smith , Jr., (DOB: 12/18/1979), of Detroit, was charged in connection to a shooting incident that involved his ex-wife. Today at a pre- trial conference, the former State Senator pleaded guilty to Malicious Destruction of Property over $20,000 or more and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, with a sentence agreement to a term of probation until March 14, 2021. The other counts of Felonious Assault, Domestic Violence Assault and Battery and Felony Firearm were dismissed as a part of the plea. He will be sentenced before Judge Lawrence Talon on October 28, 2020.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg served on our nation's highest court with distinction, honor, and class. She was a feminist firebrand who inspired women all over the world to reach the highest heights, to fight the fiercest fights, and to never back down from what is right. I will miss her on the Supreme Court, I will miss her in life, and on the proverbial battlefield. May she truly Rest in Peace for many jobs well done."
