One Adult Male and Two Juvenile Males Charged in Chrysler Car Thefts

On Saturday, September 29, 2018, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Cortez Peterson, 26 (DOB: 02/09/1992), and two juvenile respondents in connection with stealing 2019 Chrysler vehicles from a lot located in the 12500 block of Kercheval in Detroit.

On September 27, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. it is alleged that Peterson was found in the possession of a stolen 2019 Chrysler vehicle. It is further alleged that he resisted the police when they arrested him. He has been charged with Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property- Motor Vehicle and Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer. Peterson was arraigned in Romulus on September 29, 2018, and received a $2000 cash bond. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 9, 2018 at 8:30 a.m., and his Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 16, 2018.

On September 28, 2018 at 5:30 a.m. two juvenile ages 14 and 15, were arrested in connection with stealing 2019 Chrysler vehicles located at the same Kercheval lot. Both have been charged as juvenile respondents with seven counts of Larceny over $20,000, one count of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, and Malicious Destruction of Property $1000 to $20,000. They had a Preliminary Hearing on Saturday, September 29 , 2018 and each received a $25,000 cash bond.* A Pre-Trial Hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 before Judge Christopher Dingell at the Lincoln Hall of Justice.

Virgil Smith - Former state senator who entered into a 2016 plea agreement after a shooting incident involving his ex-wife.

The Post-Conviction Status Conference scheduled for tomorrow, October 4, 2018, has been adjourned until October 15, 2018.

Westland Police Sergeant Ronald Buckley and Westland Paramedics Matt Dicosola and Leah Maynard - The Defendants are expected to be arraigned tomorrow, October 4, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. before Judge Mark Plawecki in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights.

Jaylon Juwan Kerley - Defendant Comerica Park food handler charged with spitting on a pizza he prepared at a Comerica Park concession stand. The defendant was referred for criminal responsibility. The next court date is the Arraignment on the Information on October 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. The defendant has submitted himself for infectious disease testing and has waived his right to privacy regarding placing the test results on the record in open court on the date of the arraignment.

Mark Bessner - Former MSP trooper charged in connection with the death of 15-year-old Damon Grimes. Judge Margaret Van Houten has adjourned the Final Conference from today until October 11, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. The trial will be held on October 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Westland Jail Death Case - Westland defendants Ronald Buckley, Matt Dicosola and Leah Maynard were arraigned on Involuntary Manslaughter and Willful Neglect of Duty charges before Judge Mark Plawecki in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights.* They were each given a $50,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference was waived by the defendants. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Plawecki.

Defendant Buckley is represented by attorneys Kevin Simowski and Kathleen Griffith. Defendant Dicosola is represented by attorneys Gerald Gleason and Marc Hart. Defendant Leah Maynard is represented by Michael Rataj.

Huron Township Vet Charged in Dog Death

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged veterinarian Martin P. McLaughlin, 62( DOB: 03/03/1956), of Huron Township in connection with the death of his three-year-old male Labrador Retriever. On July 5, 2018, it is alleged that McLaughlin went into his home located in the 30500 block of Sibley Road in Huron Township and left his dog inside his car overnight in extreme heat. The following morning it is alleged that McLaughlin discovered the lifeless dog inside his car. The death of the dog was investigated by the Huron Township Police Department and a warrant request was presented to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

McLaughlin has been charged with one count of Animals - Abandoning/Cruelty to One Animal Resulting in the Animals Death, a 1 year Misdemeanor and one count of Animals - Abandoning/Cruelty to One Animal, a 93 day Misdemeanor.* The defendant is expected to turn himself in for arraignment on November 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.

Detroit Man Charged in Homicide of his Estranged Wife

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gregory McQueen, 30 (DOB: 09/19/1989), in connection with the death of Alisha McQueen, 28, both of Detroit. In March 2018, Ms. McQueen was reported missing by a relative. The victim and the defendant were living separately at the time. On August 25, 2018 at 6:16 p.m., an evidence technician was dispatched to a location in the 100 block of Mill Street in Ecorse where a citizen had discovered what appeared to be human bones. From August 28, 2018 until September 6, 2018, investigation by the Ecorse police led to the discovery of more bones, which were collected as evidence. Clothing was also discovered and collected as evidence at the Mill Street location. On September 7, 2018, large pieces of cement with embedded human remains were also collected as evidence by the police. On September 21, 2018, the investigation revealed that the remains belonged to victim Alisha McQueen. It is alleged that Gregory McQueen murdered his wife.

"October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. In 2017, this office reviewed almost 9000 warrants containing allegations of domestic violence throughout Wayne County. We have been in DV epidemic for years," said Prosecutor Worthy.

Defendant McQueen has been charged with Open Murder.* He is expected to be arraigned on October 8, 2018 in 25th District Court.

South Lyon Man Charged Northville Township Home Invasion

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Erik Daniel Brumley, 46 (DOB: 06/08/1972), of South Lyon, MI, in connection with the home invasion and an assault on a resident in Northville Township.

On October 3, 2018 at approximately 5:54 a.m., Northville Township police responded to 911 calls and a house alarm at a residence located in the 16600 block of Winchester Drive. Upon arrival, the officers interviewed the residents of the home who indicated that an unknown male gained entry to the home. It is alleged that, when confronted by the homeowner, the defendant brandished a weapon and assaulted him. It is further alleged that a struggle occurred and the weapon was dropped. The defendant left the scene. Investigation by the Northville Township police led to Brumley's arrest.

Brumley has been charged with Home Invasion - First Degree, three counts of Attempted Unlawful Imprisonment and three counts of Attempted Kidnapping.* He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow, October 6, 2018 out-county in 34th District Court in Romulus, after 11:00 a.m.
