Gibraltar Woman Charged in Fatal Car Crash
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Mia Michelle Allen, 49 (DOB: 12/28/1970), of Gibraltar, Michigan, in connection with a fatal car crash that killed a 65-year-old male motorcyclist from Detroit.
On August 18, 2020 at approximately 3:16 p.m., Allen Park police officers were dispatched to the area of northbound Southfield Road near Allen Road on reports of a car crash. Upon arrival, the officers located the 65-year-old motorcyclist unconscious and unresponsive, laying in the road. EMS arrived and transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital for treatment, however he passed away due to his injuries.
It is alleged that the defendant was traveling northbound on Southfield Road at a high rate of speed, failed to slow down for a red traffic light at Allen Road and struck the motorcyclist. It is also alleged that the defendant was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Allen has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death and Operating Under the Influence Causing Death.* She was arraigned on August 20, 2020 in 24th District Court. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 31, 2020 in 24thDistrict Court. Please contact the Allen Park Police Department for a photograph of the Defendant.
