Five People Charged in Harper Woods Carjacking

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym worthy has charged Dominique Mickeal-Yvette Cooper, 19 (DOB: 08/30/1999) of Clinton Township, Sirenitee Zacara Brown, 19 (DOB: 11/29/1999) of Chesterfield, Maurice Houston Vernon, 20 (DOB: 08/30/1998) of Harper Woods, Omari Dujuan Lloyd, 23 (DOB: 10/13/1995), also of Harper Woods, and Angel Marie Schultz, 18 (DOB: 01/28/2000) of Mt. Clemens, MI in connection with the carjacking of an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old woman in Harper Woods. It is further alleged that all the defendants conspired to commit the carjacking.

It is alleged that on January 13, 2019, Defendant Cooper asked her 18-year-old female co-worker for a ride to a store and the co-worker agreed. After picking up a 16-year-old friend, the victim the drove to a store located in Clinton Township and Cooper further asked the 18-year-old victim to drive her to drop off some items to a friend in Harper Woods. She was told that Cooper's friend would give her gas money. The 18-year-old victim agreed to this and she and her friend drove Cooper to Harper Woods. Cooper exited the vehicle and, while waiting for her return, it is alleged that Defendants Houston and Lloyd approached the vehicle, produced a weapon and carjacked the vehicle from the victim and her friend. Investigation by the Harper Woods police located the vehicle the next day at a nearby apartment complex.

Defendants Cooper, Brown, Vernon and Lloyd: Carjacking and two counts of Armed Robbery*;

All Defendants: Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property - Motor Vehicle*;

Defendant Vernon: Four counts of Felony Firearm - Pneumatic Gun. *

The defendants were arraigned on January 18, 2019 before 32-A District Judge Daniel Palmer. The Probable Cause Conferences are scheduled for January 30, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.; the Preliminary Examinations are scheduled for February 6, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. The hearings are before Judge Daniel Palmer in 32A District Court in Harper Woods.

Defendant Cooper received a $50,000 cash/surety bond; Defendant Brown received a $30,000 cash/surety bond; Defendant Vernon received a $200,000 cash/surety bond; Defendant Lloyd received a $75,000 cash/surety bond; Defendant Schultz received a $10,000 cash/surety bond.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
