Livonia Woman Charged in Grocery Store Harassment

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Paula Marie Gearin, 46 (DOB: 01/14/1974), of Livonia, in connection with intentionally blocking another female shopper's car so that the shopper was not able to leave the grocery store parking lot in Livonia.

On June 13, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the defendant was in a grocery store with a child, located in the 33500 block of Eight Mile Road in Livonia. While in the store, she had a verbal exchange with a 43-year-old female shopper who was with her children, as well. It is alleged that the defendant became very loud and rude and was verbally harassing the complainant. The complainant went to her car and she finished loading her car with groceries. As she was attempting to leave, it is alleged that the defendant stood behind her vehicle and would not allow the complainant to exit. The complainant then video recorded the ensuing exchanges. Livonia police officers arrived and spoke with both parties and the complainant filed a police report.

Gearin has been charged with Disturbing the Peace.* The defendant was arraigned today in 16th District Court in Livonia. She received a $500 personal bond, and a pre-trial date of August 6, 2020. Please contact the Livonia Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
