Detroit Woman Assaulted After Car Crash

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Laticqua Larae Kinney, 20 (DOB: 02/04/1999), of Detroit, in connection with an assault following a car collision.

On March 26, 2019 at approximately 6:50 p.m., the female victim, a Detroit resident, was driving alone southbound on Linwood, near West Boston Avenue. It is alleged the defendant was driving her vehicle with two passengers, pulled in front of the victim and caused the collision. After the accident, the victim pulled into a gas station parking lot in the 9800 block of Linwood. Kinney stopped her vehicle on Linwood and walked over to the parking lot. A verbal argument began and escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Kinney's companions entered the fray and it is alleged they struck, beat and stomped the victim and fled the scene before Detroit Police and EMS arrived. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the arrest of the defendant.

Kinney has been charged with Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault and Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident.*

Kinney was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Laura Echartea. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 9, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 16, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court.
