Taylor Woman Charged in Homicide of Co-Worker

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Sandra Lynette Waller, 49 (DOB: 01/07/1968), of Taylor, in connection with the fatal shooting of Lorraine Maylynn Faison, 49, of Allen Park. On October 16, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Taylor Police officers were dispatched to a shooting at Burlington Coat Factory in the 22300 block of Eureka Road. It is alleged that shortly before the police arrived at the store, Defendant Waller had a brief verbal argument her co-worker, Ms. Faison. It is alleged that during the argument, the defendant fatally shot Ms. Faison once in the chest. The arresting officers found Defendant Waller at the location with a gun in her waistband. The gun was taken from her without incident and she was placed under arrest. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The defendant has been charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.* Waller was arraigned this afternoon before 23rd District Court Judge Joseph Slaven. The probable cause conference is scheduled for October 30, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 6, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Joseph D. Slaven in 23rd District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. WCPO will be appealing the bond. Under the law, the defendant must be remanded to jail on a First Degree Murder charge. The defendant currently remains in jail.
