Son Attacks Mother and has Police Stand-Off in Plymouth Apartment
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Todd Willard Holgate, 41 (DOB: 10/12/1979), of Plymouth, in connection with an attack made upon his 69-year-old mother, also of Plymouth. On September 26, 2020 at 2:44 p.m., the victim was outside of her apartment in the 390 block of Pinewood Circle speaking with the defendant when he threatened her. She immediately went inside the apartment and locked the door. It is alleged that her son became irate and gained entry by breaking a glass window on the front door.
Once inside the apartment while armed with a knife, he chased her into her bedroom. He is further alleged to have strangled his mother and stabbed the bed near her head. After the attack he fled to another part of the apartment. His mother called the Plymouth Police who responded to the location. After a two-hour stand-off, Holgate was taken into custody by the police and placed in a local hospital for evaluation.
The defendant has been charged with False Report of a Threat of Terrorism, Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm, Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm - Strangulation, Felonious Assault and Resisting and Obstructing the Police.* The defendant was arraigned yesterday and received a $500,000 bond/10%. He is to have no contact with is mother, no alcohol and a GPS tether if he is released. His Probable Cause Conference is on October 9, 2020 and his Preliminary Examination is on October 16, 2020 in 35th District Court.
