Two Detroit Men Charged in Cheyenne Street Fatal Shooting

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Matthew Lamar Williams-Brockman, 24 (DOB: 07/26/1996) and Devonte Dalvin Kenney, 22, (DOB: 10/01/1997), both of Detroit, in the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old Detroit man.

On July 28, 2020 at approximately 1:46 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 16200 block of Cheyenne Street about a felonious assault in progress. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a bicycle at the end of a driveway. Investigation by the officers led them to the backyard of the residence where they found the lifeless body of the victim lying in the grass with an obvious gunshot wound. Medics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. It is alleged that the defendants followed the victim in their vehicles and fatally shot him. Further evidence will be placed on the record during the Preliminary Examination.

Defendant Williams-Brockman has been charged with Murder - First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Felony Firearm.*

Defendant Kenney has been charged with Murder - First Degree, Assault With Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Felony Firearm.*

Both defendants were arraigned August 6, 2020 before 36th District Court Magistrate Joseph Boyer. The Probable Cause Conferences are scheduled for August 13, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examinations are scheduled for August 20, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. All hearings are before Judge Roberta Archer in 36th District Court.
