Two Detroiters Charged in Church Theft

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Robert Gray, 56 (DOB: 07/07/1964) and Kenyantta King, 42, (DOB: 08/29/1978), both of Detroit, in connection with the removal of copper tubing from a church restroom.

On October 27, 2020 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Detroit police were dispatched to the Bushnell Congregational Church located at 15000 Southfield Freeway regarding the burglary of an occupied business. Upon arrival, the officers located the defendants who were being detained by individuals inside the location. The defendants were arrested at the scene.

The defendants have been charged with Breaking and Entering with Intent, Possession of Burglar Tools, Malicious Destruction of Building - $200 - $1000.* Both defendants arraigned at 10:30 this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Joseph Boyer. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for both defendants on November 19, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court. Gray and King received $5,000 personal bonds.
