Two Men Charged in Fatal Drive by Shooting
of Seven-Year-Old Detroit Girl on Bedford Street


On October 28, 2020 at 8:22 p.m. Detroit police officers were dispatched to a shooting of a seven-year-old Reginae Williams in the 3900 block of Bedford in Detroit. The officers observed Reginae suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. On October 30, 2020, the child succumbed to her wounds.

After an extensive investigation by the Detroit Police Department Emmett Williams, Jr., 19 (DOB:12/30/2000), of Detroit, and Christion Mitchell-Childress, 22 (DOB: 06/21/1998), of Southfield, were identified as suspects. It is alleged that the two men drove by the Bedford home and fatally shot and killed the child.

Today Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Williams and Mitchell-Childress in connection with the fatal shooting of the victim in this case. The facts and evidence will be presented at court at the preliminary examination.

Defendant Emmett Williams, Jr. has been charged with First Degree Murder, Discharge of a Firearm at a Building Causing Death, Discharge of a Weapon from a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, and three counts of Felony Firearm. He was arraigned in 36th District Court and remanded to jail today. His Probable Cause Conference is on December 3, 2020 and his Preliminary Examination is on December 10, 2020 before Judge Kenyetta Jones. Please ask DPD for a photograph of Defendant Williams.

Defendant Christion Mitchell-Childress has been charged with First Degree Murder, Discharge of a Firearm at a Building Causing Death and Discharge of a Weapon from a Motor Vehicle Causing Death.
