Westland Man Charged in Sheldon Road Fatal Car Crash
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gustavo Godinez, Jr., 19, (DOB: 10/28/2000), of Westland, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed a 20-year-old male who was skateboarding on Sheldon Road.
On September 3, 2020 at approximately 11:37 p.m., Northville Township Police were dispatched to the area of Sheldon Road and Six Mile Road in response to a fatal hit and run crash. The crash investigation turned up blue paint chips and a windshield wiper. Michigan State Police analyzed the chips and identified the make and age range of the vehicle. The investigation received a tip which led to the October 8, 2020 arrest of Gustavo Godinez, Jr.
It is alleged that Godinez was driving on Sheldon Road and struck a 20-year-old man about a quarter mile south of Six Mile Road.
Godinez has been charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Causing Death.* He was arraigned this afternoon. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. Please contact the Northville Township Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
