Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Marcell Carter, 17, of River Rouge, and Dshaun Miller, 15, of Ecorse, in connection with the fatal shooting of Jonai Harrison, 21, of River Rouge. They have been charged as adult defendants in this case.

A relative reported Mr. Harrsion missing on December 9, 2022. On December 15, 2022, River Rouge Police officers were dispatched to West Pleasant and I-75 Freeway in Detroit. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim deceased, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body and neck.

It is alleged that on December 8, 2022, Defendant Carter and Defendant Miller fatally shot the victim and moved his lifeless body to another location. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department with the assistance of the Ecorse Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Carter on January 11, 2023, and the arrest of Defendant Miller on January 18, 2023. Further facts and evidence in the case will be placed on the record at the Preliminary Examination.

Marcell Carter has been charged with one count of Felony Murder. * Dshaun Miller has been charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of Felony Firearm. *

They were arraigned on February 14, 2023, in 36th District Court. Both defendants were remanded to jail. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 28, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 7, 2023, at 1:45 p.m. before Judge Kenneth King.
