On March 30, 2021, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Daniel Ireland, 31, (DOB: 05/14/89), of Riverview, in connection with opening fire on two Riverview police officers.

On March 27, 2021, at approximately 2:56 p.m., Riverview police officers responded to a residence in the 14800 block of Shenandoah Drive in Riverview to do a welfare check on the defendant. Upon arrival, officers located Defendant Ireland's vehicle running outside of his home. It is then alleged that the defendant emerged from his home with a semi-automatic rifle and tactical vest before returning inside to fire directly at the officers.

Daniel Ireland has been charged with: Two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder; Two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm; One Count of Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Building; Two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, One count of Felon in Possession of a Rifle; Two counts of Felon in Possession of a Pistol; One count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition; Two counts of Felonious Assault; One count of Use of Body Armor During a Violent Felony; One count Malicious Destruction of Police Property, One Count of Resisting and Obstructing the Police: and Fourteen counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned on March 30, 2021 in 27th District Court in Riverview by Judge Elizabeth DiSanto and received a $1,000,000 cash bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on April 9, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in 28th District Court in Southgate before Judge Elisabeth Mullins.
