Shavon LewisRoby, 28 (DOB: 05/07/1992), of Roseville, Michigan, has been charged by Prosecutor Kym Worthy in connection with the hanging her mother's pet dog.

On June 14, 2020 at 3:09 p.m., at a location in 990 block of East Euclid Street it is alleged that the defendant took her mother's dog and hung it from a gate with jumper cables. The location was not the place where her mother resided.

The dog was discovered by a neighbor who contacted Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC).The lifeless body of the dog recovered by DACC who gave it to investigators from the Michigan Humane Society and the Detroit Police Department. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of the defendant on June 16, 2020.

Defendant LewisRoby has been charged with one count of Animal Killing - Second Degree, a felony carrying a maximum prison sentence of seven years in prison.*

The defendant was arraigned today in 36th District Court. Her bond is $25,000/10%. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled on June 26, 2020, and the Preliminary Examination is on July 1, 2020.
