Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Henri Tau Brown, 40, (DOB: 06/16/1981), of Southfield, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed a Michigan State Police (MSP) K-9 and injured a 28-year-old Detroit woman, and a 29-year-old Oak Park woman.

On July 25, 2021 at approximately 1:08 a.m., the defendant was driving southbound on the John C. Lodge Freeway near Linwood Street in Detroit. It is alleged that the defendant was intoxicated and driving at a high rate of speed when he struck a stationary Michigan State Police SUV blocking traffic from a flooded underpass. Medics arrived on scene and transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment.

Henri Tau Brown has been charged with two counts of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury, two counts of Operating While License Suspended, Revoked or Denied Causing Serious Injury, one count of Assaulting, Resisting, or Obstructing a Police Officer Causing Injury, and one count of Operating with a High Blood Alcohol Content. * He was arraigned in a local hospital on July 27, 2021 and given a $50,000/10% bond with an alcohol tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 9, 2021 in 36th District Court. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Michigan State Police.
