Taylor Man Charged in Cornell Street Fatal Shooting
On June 15, 2021 at approximately 5:20 p.m., Taylor police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6400 block of Cornell Street in Taylor for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the front lawn of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. It is alleged that Defendant Hicks discharged a handgun multiple times during a physical altercation, fatally wounding the victim.
Eddie Arnold Hicks has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder, one count of Manslaughter, and two counts of Felony Firearm. He was arraigned today in23rd District Court and given a $500,000 cash/surety bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 2, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 9, 2021.
