Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Cody Clark, 16 (DOB: 3/11/99) and Arkeene Broaden,18 (DOB: 2/18/97), in connection with the homicide of Martez Johnson, 19. All of the men are from Detroit. On June 28, 2015 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Broaden drove a vehicle with passengers Clark and Johnson to a house in the 18100 block of Heyden in Detroit. It is alleged that Clark and Broaden said they wanted to purchase marijuana at the house but actually intended to steal money while there. Clark went into the house and Broaden remained in the car. Once Clark was inside the house, he pointed a gun at Johnson's head. When Johnson tried to get away, he was fatally shot. A 25-year-old male witness was in the house and exchanged shots with Clark as he fled on foot. Broaden was driving the car and it is alleged that when he saw the male witness leave the house, Broaden began shooting at the man as he was driving north on Heyden toward Seven Mile Road. Police and medics were called to the house and Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene.

Clark is a juvenile who will be tried as an adult. Clark and Broaden were arraigned this morning on charges of: Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy and Felony Firearm. The Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for July 23, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Giles; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 30, 2015 at 1:30 p.m., also before Judge Giles.
