Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged David Rashaad McCrackins, 38, (DOB: 07/11/1982) and
Jason Anthony Coleman, 42, (DOB: 10/06/1978), both of Flint, in connection with the fatal
shooting of Anthony Gaskins, 19, of Detroit.

On February 4, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Detroit police officers discovered the lifeless
body of Mr. Gaskins lying in the street in front of a residence in the 9980 block of Ashton
Avenue in Detroit. It is alleged that Defendant McCrackins fatally shot the victim with a
handgun. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant
McCrackins on May 12, 2021 and the arrest of Defendant Gaskins on May 13, 2021.

David Rashaad McCrackins has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one
count of Felon in Possession, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and two counts of
Felony Firearm. Jason Anthony Coleman has been charged with one count of Carrying a
Concealed Weapon, one count of Accessory After the Fact, and one count of Felony Firearm.
They were arraigned and remanded to jail on May 15, 2021 in 36th District Court. The Probable
Cause Conference is on May 26, 2021 before Judge Kenneth King. Defendant Coleman's Preliminary Examination is on May 28, 2021 and Defendant McCrackins' Preliminary Examination is on June 2, 2021 before Judge Kenneth King.
