Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Calvin Lamont Pickett Jr., 43, (DOB: 01/05/1978), of Bloomfield Hills, and Fadi Abi-Fakhreddine, 58, (DOB: 11/26/1963), of Ypsilanti, in connection with an auto theft and chop shop ring.

On November 25, 2019, while at a residence in the 13800 block of Mecca Street, a victim reported his vehicle stolen to the Detroit Police Department. Investigation by the Detroit Auto Theft Unit led to a chop shop in the 8850 block of Schaefer Highway in Detroit. On March 2, 2022, Detroit police officers discovered fraudulent paperwork that was being used to scrap stolen vehicles. Both defendants were arrested at the scene.

It is alleged that the defendants used fraudulent paperwork to cover up the theft and crushing of stolen vehicles.

Calvin Lamont Pickett Jr. and Fadi Abi-Fakhreddine have both been charged with one count of Criminal Enterprise - Conducting, 12 counts of Intent to Pass a False Title, and 12 counts of Receiving and Concealing a Motor Vehicle. *

Both defendants were arraigned on March 17, 2022 and given a $30,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 29, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 5, 2022, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Roberta Archer.
