Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terrell Dwan Morris, 35, of Redford, and Lamont James Sherman, 45, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shootings of a 16-year-old Detroit boy, a 28-year-old Beverly Hills woman, a 27-year-old Detroit woman, and a 45-year-old Redford man.

On June 23, 2023, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Livonia police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 19330 block of Rensellor Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers encountered Defendant Morris.

It is alleged that during a verbal altercation between Defendant Morris and the 27-year-old victim, the 16-year-old victim approached Morris and shattered a glass door as Morris retreated into his home. Morris then exited his home and produced and fired a handgun multiple times at the victims. The 16-year-old victim was struck in the leg. The remaining victims were not injured in the shooting.

It is alleged that Defendant Sherman tampered handgun evidence at the crime scene of the shooting, before fleeing the scene. It is further alleged that he lied to the police about the location of the gun. Investigation by the Livonia Police Department led to the arrest of Sherman on June 25, 2023.

Terrell Dwan Morris has been charged with seven counts of Felonious Assault, seven counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and one count of Domestic Violence. *

Lamont James Sherman has been charged with one count of Lying to a Peace Officer, and one count of Tampering with Evidence. *

"The evidence in this case will show that this prolonged shooting in Livonia in broad daylight was reminiscent of shooting on the frontier in the Wild West," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy. "This potentially deadly behavior occurred in a residential neighborhood and put people in grave danger."

Both defendants were arraigned on June 26, 2023, in 16th District Court before Magistrate Barbara Scherr. Defendant Morris was remanded to jail. Defendant Sherman received a $100,000/10% bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge Kathleen McCann. Please request a photograph of the defendants from the Livonia Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
