Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Richard Allen Kechego, 30, (DOB: 12/13/1989) of Lincoln Park in connection with two separate incidents involving his alleged incidents of spitting on hospital personnel to intentionally spread a virus.

Wyandotte Allegations

On March 29, 2020, at approximately 6:51 p.m., and while in the care of a local hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan, it is alleged that the defendant verbally assaulted, threatened and spat at several hospital staff with the intent to infect them with a virus.*

Kechego has been charged with Threat of Terrorism and Harmful Devices/Unlawful Use.** He was arraigned this afternoon in 27th District Court in Wyandotte. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 14, 2020 at 12:15 p.m. The defendant received a $50,000 cash bond, GPS tether and house arrest, should he post bond. Dearborn Allegations

On April 16, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., and while in the care of a local hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, the defendant verbally assaulted, threatened and spat at a hospital staff member with the intent of infecting the person with a virus.*

Kechego has been charged with Harmful Devices/Unlawful Use.** He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow morning, May 8, 2020, via Zoom in 19th District Court in Dearborn since arraignment arrangements could not be made for today.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "It is hard to wrap one's mind around this defendant's alleged behavior, especially during these times. If you are even thinking about doing something like this, know that acting on it is criminal behavior."
