Warren Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Detroit Man
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jonathan Leeaveret Williams, 31, of Warren, in connection with the fatal shooting of Harmond Ulmer, 31, of Detroit. It is alleged that Defendant Williams worked with the victim.
On October 6, 2024, at approximately 11:29 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a building in the 12600 block of Artesian Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim's vehicle crashed into a telephone pole, and Mr. Ulmer inside the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
It is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and victim escalated, and Defendant Williams produced and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Mr. Ulmer.
Jonathan Leeaveret Williams has been charged with Second-Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.*
He was arraigned and remanded to jail on the afternoon of October 9, 2024, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Laura Echartea. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 16, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 22, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Aliyah Sabree.
