Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Chelsea Renee Duperon, 30, of Wayne, in connection with the death of her eight-year-old daughter.

On March 16, 2024, at approximately 5:19 a.m., Wayne police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 35200 block of Phyllis Street for reports of a child not breathing. Upon their arrival, officers observed the child in a bedroom of the home, unresponsive, suffering from multiple injuries to her head and neck. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the child to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Duperon fatally assaulted the child. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Chelsea Renee Duperon has been charged with Felony Murder and First-Degree Child Abuse.*

She was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 29th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 25, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 1, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., before Judge Breeda O'Leary.
