Westland Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend
On June 29, 2022, at approximately 12:06 a.m., Westland police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 35270 block of Glenwood in Westland for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim inside of her vehicle, unresponsive with two gunshot wounds to the left side of her head. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced Ms. Cornwall deceased.
It is alleged that a verbal argument between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Taylor produced and fired a handgun into Ms. Cornwall's vehicle, fatally wounding her, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Westland Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant later the same day.
Cary Anthony Taylor has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder, and one count of Felony Firearm. *
He was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 18th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 7, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., before Judge Sandra Cicirelli.
