Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ryan Mcleod, 16, (DOB: 10/08/2005), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old Detroit boy. Defendant Mcleod has been charged as an adult offender.

On July 26, 2022, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 8320 block of Homer Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to his back. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that the defendant drove by the residence and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding the victim. Further facts and evidence will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Ryan Mcleod has been charged with one count of First-Degree Premediated Murder (Juvenile Defendant), one count of Felonious Assault, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to a youth home this morning in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 15, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 22, 2022, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
