Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ronald Gaskin Anthony, 27, of Oak Park, and Alana Michele Caver, 26, of Canton, in connection with the fatal shooting of Akeem Stevens, 34, of Detroit.

On May 30, 2022, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Detroit police officers were in the area of West Elizabeth and Clifford Streets when they heard gunshots. Officers canvassed the area and located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced Mr. Stevens deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Anthony fired multiple shots at the victim, fatally wounding him, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendants on September 20, 2022.

Ronald Gaskin Anthony has been charged with one count of Felony Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Carrying with Unlawful Intent, and one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. * Alana Michele Caver has been charged with one count of False Report of a Felony. * More detailed facts and evidence will be place on the record at the preliminary examination.

They were arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court. Defendant Anthony was remanded to jail, and Defendant Caver was given a $10,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 7, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 14, 2022, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
