Demitrus Tiwan Shaw, 19, of Detroit has been charged in connection with non-fatal shooting of a 37- year-old Detroit man that occurred on Collington Drive in Detroit.

On May 31, 2024, at approximately 7:10 p.m. Detroit police officers were dispatched to a shooting at a house on Collingham Drive. The police canvased the area and received security footage from neighbors showing a gray SUV pulling up to the victim's car at Boulder and Collingham and firing multiple gun shots. The victim was able to drive to a relatives' house who privately conveyed him to St. John's Hospital. Over a series of months an extensive investigation was conducted by the Detroit Police Department, with assistance from the Michigan State Police. As a result of the investigation, Defendant Shaw was identified and arrested in connection with the non-fatal shooting on January 7, 2025.

Demitrus Tiwan Shaw has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle - Causing Injury, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Unlawful Intent, and four counts of Felony Firearm.*

He was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton and received a $1 million cash/surety bond. A bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for January 13, 2025, before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 17, 2025, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 24, 2025, before Judge Patricia Jefferson.
