Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Princess Diana Jennings-Carter, 16 of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy, also of Detroit. Defendant Jennings-Carter will be waived and tried as an adult defendant.

On April 23, 2025, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a church in the 17100 block of West Seven Mile Road for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers observed the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the right thigh and the buttocks area. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that Defendant Jennings-Carter approached the victim at a bus stop in the 17100 block of West Seven Mile Road and produced and fired a handgun multiple times, striking the victim, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on April 24, 2025.

Princess Diana Jennings-Carter has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Carrying a Weapon with Unlawful Intent, and three counts of Felony Firearm* She was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton and given a $500,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. A bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for May 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico.
