Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jamere Mykel Miller, 36, of Inkster, in connection with the homicide of Patrice Wilson, 29, of Redford. Ms. Wilson was working as a nurse at Detroit Receiving Hospital. She was the girlfriend of Miller and was reported to be ending their relationship at the time of her death.

On May 13, 2023, at approximately 7:53 a.m., at Detroit Receiving Hospital, located in the 4200 block of St. Antoine Street, it is alleged that Miller disguised with a wig, a hat, and glasses, waited until Ms. Wilson got into her car after work. He went to the back passenger side of her car and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding her. Miller then got into the driver's seat and fled from the scene.

The investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to evidence in Inkster, Garden City and Novi. On May 13, 2023, at 2:19 p.m. DPD was advised that Ms. Wilson's car was found at a location in Novi, MI. DPD found her lifeless body in the rear of the car. Miller turned himself in to Detroit police officers on May 14, 2023.

More complete facts of the extensive investigation and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Jamere Mykel Miller has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Felony Murder, one count of Carjacking, one count of Armed Robbery, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and five counts of Felony Firearm. *

"I want to commend the excellent work of Detroit police officers in this case," said Detroit Police chief James White. He also commented on the collaborative working relationship of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office with DPD, stating, "This is the best working relationship that our offices have had in had in many years."

"A hard working and dedicated nurse that was simply trying to live her life and end a relationship was murdered. It is alleged that the defendant would not let her go. The most dangerous time for a domestic violence victim is when they are trying to leave the relationship, said Prosecutor Kym Worthy. "People were outraged when she was seen being forcibly taken from her job at the end of her shift. But this is what domestic violence looks like. The evidence in this case will show that this defendant was responsible for her death and the other crimes that we have charged today."

He was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 15, 2023, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for June 22, 2023, before Judge Kenneth King. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
