Jesse Gunderson - Defendant charged in connection with murdering a Wayne, Michigan man with an ax, was referred for criminal responsibility at his probable cause hearing today. The new probable cause conference date is December 1, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in 29th District Court.

Malcolm Benson - Charged with the robbery and murder of 59-year-old Stanley Carter at a bus stop in Highland Park. Today his preliminary examination was scheduled for October 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.

Kimberly Pappas - Defendant charged in with the death of her newborn child at her workplace in Redford. Today at the final conference, she pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder with a sentence agreement of nine to 20 years in prison before Judge Bruce Morrow. Her sentence hearing will be held on October 26, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.

Detroit Man Charged in Steel Street Homicide Case

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Devin Deveon Sims, 17 (DOB: 3/14/98), in connection with the homicide of Mylin Toron Jenkins, 24 (DDOB: 10/2/91). Both men are from Detroit. On October 5, 2015 at approximately 3:30 a.m. in front of a location in the 16200 block of Steel Street, it is alleged that Jenkins was seated in the driver's seat of a car when he was fatally shot in the head by Sims, who was seated in the rear passenger portion of the car. After the shooting, Simms removed Jenkins's body from the car and drove off. At approximately 1:00 p.m. on the same day, investigation by the Detroit Police Department led them to a location in the 20000 block of Ohio Street, where it is alleged that Sims had barricaded himself in the house, but later surrendered to the police.

Sims has been charged with Felony Murder, Carjacking, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and Felony Firearm. The defendant was arraigned yesterday at 2:30 p.m. before Magistrate Echartea. The Probable Cause Conference is set for October 14, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 21, 2015 @ 1:30 p.m. - both hearings before Judge Nance-Adams.

Huron Township Juvenile Male DOB 9/26/99 - On October 5, 2015, it is alleged that the juvenile sent a tweet that he was going to bring a gun to Huron High School. When school officials discovered the information, the police were called and the juvenile was taken into custody. He was charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office with Disturbing the Peace. He had a preliminary hearing today and was given a $1,000 personal bond. His next date in court is on November 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. before Wayne County Juvenile Court Referee Mona Yousif.

Drequone Rich - Defendant charged in the homicide of French street artist Bilal Berreni. Today he was sentenced to 23 to 40 years in prison for Second Degree Murder by Judge Bruce Morrow.
