Charles Whitman, 39 (DOB: 01/31/1981), has been charged by Prosecutor Kym Worthy in connection with the murder of his girlfriend Lina Breen, 55, both of Wyandotte.

On February 2, 2019, at 2:13 a.m. police officers were called to the apartment that Defendant Whitman and Ms. Breen shared located in the 1150 block of Sycamore Street in Wyandotte. When they entered the apartment, the defendant was there. They went to the bedroom in the apartment and observed Ms. Breen on a bed covered in blood. Medics on the scene pronounced her deceased. Defendant Whitman was taken into custody. It is alleged that the defendant fatally beat Ms. Breen to death.

A warrent request was submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, but was returned for further investigative work. The work was completed and recently returned to WCPO for a charging decision. As a result, Defendant Whitman was placed under arrest yesterday, and was arraigned today on one count of Second-Degree Murder* and remanded to jail in 27th District Court. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 21, 2021, at 11:45 a.m. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Wyandotte Police Department.
