Wayne County Commissioner Jewel Ware honored during NOBCO forum

Wayne County Commissioner Jewel Ware was honored during the National Organization of Black County Officials 2019 Economic Development Forum held May 1-4 at the Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit.

Ware (D-Detroit), the commission vice-chair pro tem, was presented with artwork in honor of her 25 years of service in county government during Friday's forum luncheon, an event which featured U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) as guest speaker.

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) addressed the forum on Thursday. Both Klobuchar and Booker are candidates for the 2020 Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell (D-Detroit) served as host for the forum which brought together elected leaders from throughout the U.S. to discuss such criminal public issues as health care, education and criminal justice reform.
