Summer Food Program

Summer Food Program

The Wayne County Summer Food Program provides free, nutritious lunches to children through age 18 from low-income families. The program also provides meals to mentally or physically handicapped adults.

Hunger Doesn't Take A Summer Vacation

The Wayne County Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) helps to ensure that children in lower-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations, when they do not have access to the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs.

  • Learn about the Summer Food Service Program
  • If you would like to participate by opening a site to provide lunches for neighborhood children please contact dwendt@waynecounty.com or at (734) 727-7107.
  • The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is proud to announce the availability of the new and improved Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Site Locator Map. This map will allow families to identify the nearest Meet Up and Eat Upâ„¢ site complete with information such as location, meal types, and times. It will even provide driving directions. Click here to view the map.
  • In partnership with Michigan No Kid Hungry and the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, individuals anywhere in the state also can locate the SFSP site nearest them by dialing 2-1-1 from any landline or mobile phone. These call centers around Michigan will be accessing the MDE Site Locator Map to provide callers with the most up to date information.
