CASE STUDY: Immigrant Heritage Month
In the midst of turmoil and political controversy about immigration policy, Wayne United sought to bring focus back to our immigrant neighbors who contribute much to Wayne County's communities. In honor of Immigrant Heritage Month, we identified and highlighted notable Wayne County residents who immigrated to the United States and shared their stories on Facebook.

CASE STUDY: LA SED Literacy Library
Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans' adminstration partnered from LA SED and Books for a Benefit to open a literacy library at the LA SED Youth and Senior Center at 7150 Vernor Highway. The literacy libery seeks to expose young people to books and reading. The facility will house new and gently used books donated to the Wayne County Reads Book Drive, as well as books supplied by local non-profit, Books for a Benefit. Books for a Benefit transformed the space into a library over a two-day period, including painting and furnishing the space, which was paid for by donations from Wayne County employees. To best serve the local community, the library include a selection of Spanish-language books.

Wayne United supports partnerships between the business community and civic leaders to promote economic opportunities for residents from all walks of life.

CASE STUDY: Wayne County Service Day at Zaman International

Wayne County employees volunteer at a local nonprofit Zaman International on November 15, 2017 and helped prepare soup and gnocchi for Zaman International clients. Founded in 2004, Zaman International is a non-profit organization committed to addressing the basic needs and empowerment of marginalized women and children locally and internationally. The mission is to facilitate change and advance the lives of marginalized women and children by enabling them to meet essential needs common to all humankind. As a humanitarian organization, respect for all humanity and the commitment to every human's well-being is the basis of our work.
